William M. Nist III

William M. Nist III, son of Frances Nist and the late William M. Nist Jr., passed away on June 17, 2021 after a long battle with PMP cancer. Known as Bill or Billy to family and friends, he was a devoted husband and father. He was born in Jersey City and grew up in Rochelle Park, NJ.  

A graduate of Hackensack High School, where he was a “star” on the football team, Billy went on to William Patterson University. Billy’s career took him from New Jersey to Massachusetts and back to Emerson, and then Ridgewood. For the last fifteen years, he worked for the State of New Jersey, Department of Child Protection and Permanency in Hackensack, securing homes for children in need. 

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Carmen, his daughter Megan, his mother Fran, his sister Cathy, nephew Matthew, brother-in-law Robert, mother-in-law Cecilia, and sister-in-law Cristina. Bill loved spending time with his family and friends, the New Jersey and now Brooklyn Nets, and playing practical jokes on his coworkers. He will be missed dearly.

Visitation will take place at Feeney Funeral Home at 232 Franklin Avenue in Ridgewood on Tuesday, June 22nd from 4:00 to 8:00. Service will follow the next morning at 11am.
