Suzanne Kennelly

Suzanne Kennelly, 82, of Ridgewood, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2020. Suzanne – known as Mom, Marm, Suzie Q, Nana, Tiramisu, and Dollface – was born to Paul and Marjorie Luchini in Cambridge, MA on August 21, 1938. She was raised in Binghamton, NY, and attended Kenwood School in Albany and Marywood University in Scranton, PA. She became a teacher and taught at MacArthur Elementary School in Binghamton. Suzanne met her beloved husband John Kennelly at a business party her father hosted, and they were married in 1963 – in the wedding of the decade! Suzanne and John settled in Ridgewood where they raised their three sons: Sean, Paul, and Kevin.

Suzanne enjoyed going out to dinner, day trips to the beach, trips to New York City, and she loved her lollipops and iced coffee! Growing up she spent her summers in Lake George, and through the years she treasured being able to continue to visit Lake George with her family.

Some of Suzanne’s new favorite things included watching all of her favorite shows on Netflix and Amazon Prime. “Alexa” was also her new favorite toy. She could often be overhead yelling at “Alexa”: “ALEXA! PLAY THE BEE GEES! ALEXA! LOWER!” It was hysterical! Another of her passions was her doll collection. From Disney to Loony Tunes to Cabbage Patch – and her favorite, Peg + Cat.

In recent years, she enjoyed attending physical therapy in Ho-Ho-Kus three times a week. It was her happy place. She made friends with many of the other patients and therapists. She was everyone’s favorite patient!

Suzanne was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church in Ridgewood for many years. Attending the 11:00 AM Mass with the choir was her favorite. Of course, brunch at Benny’s would always follow. During the holidays, she enjoyed spending time with extended family – and she was the life of the party! She truly loved her extended family and cherished watching all of the kids grow up into fine young adults.

It was the simple things in life that made Suzanne happy, and that joy resonated with anyone who spent time with her. She will be truly missed by her family, her friends, and the community.

Suzanne was predeceased by her parents, Paul and Marjorie Luchini, her husband John, and her son Kevin. She is survived by her loving sons Sean and Paul, and her dear grandchildren Katie Kennelly, and Dan and Jeff Barrecchia. Suzanne is also survived by her siblings – Paul, Peter, Rachel, and John, and also by countless adoring nephews and nieces.

The Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 21st at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church, 1 Passaic St., Ridgewood. Interment to follow at Valleau Cemetery, Ridgewood. Immediately following the burial, family and friends are invited to a BBQ at the family house, because Dollface loves a party!
