Suzanne Gillespie

Suzanne McCormick Hall Gillespie, 94, passed away on May 1, 2022, in Valley Hospital, where she spent many years volunteering. Sue was involved in starting the Valley Hospital Art Gallery Committee, which decorates the hallways of the hospital as it displays and sells work of local artists. She also was a founding member of The Depot.
Born on September 1, 1927 to Marion and Seth Thomas McCormick in Williamsport, PA., the family, including her brother, Seth, moved to Ridgewood, NJ when Sue was in eighth grade.She graduated from Ridgewood High School and attended Bucknell University. Sue married John "Jack" Hall in January, 1949 and remained married until Jack's death in 1977.
Sue met and married J. Stokes Gillespie in 1978 and they remained married until his death in 2008. Sue was a longtime member of St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church and The Upper Ridgewood Tennis Club. She was an avid traveler, reader, theater goer and fashionista.
Sue is survived by her son, John Hall (Karen), their children, Brett and Stephanie Hall Coffin (Ben) and their children, Jack, Grady and Kate, and her daughter, Judith Hall Saydah ( Robert) and their children, Elizabeth and John.
A memorial service for Sue will be held in the future at St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church in Ridgewood, NJ.
