7/16/1927 – 4/18/2022
Richard W. Swody, 94, was born at home in Jersey City, NJ. He was the youngest of three in his family, and his brother and sister predeceased him. Richard was an outstanding student in high school and graduated with honors. He was also a member of the National Guard 9th Infantry. He truly loved America and all its freedoms. Following high school he joined the Navy during World War II. He was honorably discharged after the war and was accepted to Fordham University in NY where he studied accounting. Upon graduation he worked many years for Price Waterhouse as an auditor. He eventually retired from the NJ Division of Youth & Family Services.

“Uncle Ric” never married and is remembered for his quiet, kind demeanor and love for his family. His hobbies included photography, investments, target shooting and spending weekends on his boat. He is survived by his nieces, Barbara Donzeiser and Nancy Davidson; nephew, John Jacobsen and their families.

A Memorial Service will be held on May 22, 2022, at Christ Church, 105 Cottage Place, Ridgewood, NJ at 1:00 PM.
