Richard J. Maltezos

Richard J. Maltezos, 72, passed away at Hackensack Hospital on January 5, 2021. He was a resident of River Edge, NJ for decades, but most recently lived in Midland Park.  Richard spent his working life in finance and retired in 2010.  He was a widower having lost his beloved wife, Julia, in 2016.  Richard and Julia were avid travelers spending many happy vacations in the sunshine of St Maarten.  

Richard is survived by his sister, Louise M. Lewis (Tom) and three nephews, Jeffrey, David (Deepali), and Robert (Jaclyn.)  He is also survived by Bill and Frances Debenedetto and their daughter, Gwen, (Frank), Bill, (Emily), and Tom (Jessica.)  “Uncle Dick” was always generous and supportive to his niece and nephews.

In his spare time, Richard loved the outdoors and was an avid walker at the Ridgewood Duck Pond and neighbor locations. He was also a voracious reader of mystery novels and a Yankee/Giant fan.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, One Passaic Street, Ridgewood, NJ, on Saturday, Jan 9, 2021, at 9:30 a.m.
