Rajan S. Modi, 65, of Ridgewood passed away on July 1, 2017, with his wife Meena, his sons Arjun and Vikram, his brother Satish, and his nephews and nieces by his side.  Raj was born in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, India, and first came to the United States when he was a toddler, returning for graduate studies in 1973.  From his time in high school, he always believed in the ability of scientific reasoning to solve any problem, if that problem were posed correctly.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MATHCOUNTS Foundation at https://www.givedirect.org/donate/?cid=1721  The funeral will be from 4 to 7:30 PM on Wednesday, July 5, with prayers and eulogies to begin at 6 PM.
