Chersi, Nicolo age 93, of Brighton Gardens in Saddle River, formerly of Astoria, NY, passed away November 27, 2017. Nicolo came to America from Italy with his wife Caterina in 1955, and settled in Astoria. He was a mechanic with Mackay Trucking in Queens for many years, as well as being a former parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church in Astoria, and a member of the Society Chersina. Nicolo is survived by his son Bob Chersi and wife Rosemary, and daughter Louise Stahl and husband Mark. He is the revered grandfather of Bobby, Christopher and TJ Chersi, and Nicole and Peter Stahl. He is the devoted brother of Maria Bunicci of Trieste, Italy, and the late Giovanni. Sadly, his beloved wife Caterina predeceased him in 2011. Nicolo loved cooking, fishing and gardening. Funeral Mass will be Saturday 9:30 AM in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church, Ridgewood, with entombment to follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Queens. Visiting Friday 4:00 – 8:00 at Feeney Funeral Home, 232 Franklin Ave, Ridgewood. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Society Chersina C/O Gianna Negovetti, 58-15 210th St., Bayside, NY 11364. All donations will go to renovation of the Church in Nicolo’s hometown in Italy.
