Nancy B Cataldo, 95, of Saddle River, NJ died December 6, 2020. While the pandemic prohibited her from being physically surrounded by her family at that time, her family and the great love they felt for her surrounded her in spirit.
Nancy was born in Queens, NY to hard working Italian immigrant parents, Maria Cataldo and Peter Cataldo. When she was 9 years old, her brother, Anthony M. Cataldo, was born. The two would go on to forge a friendship that was both inspiring and unbreakable, and one that will survive Nancy even after her death.
When Nancy graduated high school, she secured a job at Book of the Month Club and rose to a supervisory position which she held for 25 years. With the money she made at that job, she helped her father purchase a Carvel in 1952 - an acquisition that would be the start of a successful business which enabled the family financially for generations to come.
Nancy loved to read, watch films, cook, laugh, and was notorious for getting laughs out of her family as well. She was a constant presence and support for her niece and nephew, Maria and Peter Cataldo, and more than that, she was their friend.
In her later years, Nancy volunteered at the Valley Hospital's Kurth Cottage and the Villa Marie Claire where she very much enjoyed her time.
Nancy is survived by her beloved brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and June Cataldo; her nephew Peter and his wife Ellen Cataldo; her great nieces and great nephew, Connor, Caroline, and Kayleigh; and her niece Maria and her wife Kate Cataldo.
