Maryanne (nee: Neil) Aman of Ho-Ho-Kus entered into eternal life on Friday, November 3, 2023 surrounded by her family at The Hermitage in Richmond, VA. Maryanne was predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years Robert ‘Bob’ Aman; by her brother William H. Neil and sister, Nancy Murphy.
Devoted mother to Roz Kenny (Steven) of Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ; Robert S. Aman, Jr. (Juliann) of Richmond, VA and Thomas N. Aman of Treadway, TN. Loving grandmother to Ashley (Christopher), Marielle (Zack); Holly (Daniel), Peter (Hannah), Joshua (Sarah), Elizabeth (Riley), Caleb; Oliver, Bridget and Tess. Adoring great grandmother ‘GG’ to ten great grandchildren. Maryanne will also be greatly missed by her nieces, nephews and faithful Yorkie, Roxie.
Maryanne was born in Minneapolis, MN. Her childhood was spent in Ohio and Pennsylvania with her family settling in Fort Worth, TX. She graduated from Mills College, CA in 1949 with a B.S. in Occupational Therapy. Maryanne and Bob relocated numerous times throughout their married years before settling in Ho-Ho-Kus in 1967 to raise their family.
Maryanne was a Pediatric Occupational Therapist with the former CP Center in Ridgewood, NJ. She was a well respected OT and became a much loved Executive Director of The Children’s Therapy Center in Fair Lawn, NJ.
Maryanne was an avid Bridge player, enjoying friendships throughout her many years playing Bridge. She had a passion for American history and geography while encouraging conversations that challenged her conservative values. Maryanne’s talents in the kitchen along with her fascinating stories from a life well-lived, will be cherished forever in the hearts of all who knew her.
In her retirement Maryanne held multiple board positions in The Ridgewood Women’s Club, most notably as President from 2005-2007. At the age of 91, Maryanne become an Altar Linen Lady at OLMC in her quest to share her meticulous washing and ironing skills!
Maryanne and Bob were longtime parishioners of St. Luke’s RC Church in Ho-Ho-Kus; after Bob’s death, she became a member at Our Lady of Mt Carmel RC Church in Ridgewood, NJ.
Visiting is on Tuesday, November 14 from 4:30 to 7:30pm at Feeney Funeral Home in Ridgewood, NJ. Maryanne’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, November 15 at 10am at Our Lady of Mt Carmel RC Church, Ridgewood, NJ. Interment to follow at St. Luke’s cemetery in Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ.
