Mark R. Mongon

Mark R. Mongon, 75, of Ridgewood, passed away on May 24th, 2023.
Loving husband of 49 wonderful years to Lynn Mongon (nee Vargo). Devoted father to daughter, Stephanie, and sons Mark, Matthew, and Michael. Adoring grandfather of Paige, Kyleigh, Mackenzie, Trevor, Thomas, Steven, Quinn, and Brady. Mark was predeceased by his beloved brother and sister, John Mongon and Michele McDonald, and is survived by his cherished sister, Maureen Bacola. Mark will also be greatly missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mark was born in Riverside, NJ, and later moved with his family to Kearny, NJ. He married Lynn Vargo in 1973, and raised their family first in Garfield and then in Ridgewood, NJ. A natural teacher, Mark dedicated his working life to education, serving as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and culminating his career as superintendent of Saddle River, Mt. Olive, and Livingston Public Schools. Committed to lifelong learning, Mark earned his doctorate in education from Seton Hall University. His favorite way to spend time was with his family and close friends who became family. His favorite times of year were the Christmas season, which included the annual Tree Trimming Party, and summers at the cabin in Maine.
Visiting Wednesday 4-8 PM at the Feeney Funeral Home, Ridgewood. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church, Ridgewood.
