A Life Well Lived
Margaret Ann Treglia (Peggy) passed away peacefully at her home in Saddle River, New Jersey on Monday, February 24, 2020 after a brave battle with advanced cancer.
Born January 23, 1953 in Jersey City, New Jersey, Peggy was the daughter of Margaret and John Mallard. She attended St Nicholas School and Dickinson High School and worked for the Bell Telephone Company before marrying Jerry Treglia in 1975 and together raising their two daughters, Jennifer and Michelle.
As a 40-year resident of Saddle River and a member of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary, Peggy dedicated herself to multiple fund raising projects and a variety of social functions to help others. She enjoyed creating memories with both friends and family through traveling extensively and simple pleasures. She found strength in gaining her sobriety and supporting others in achieving the same mission. She also treasured the serenity found in watching the ever-changing ocean from her beach house.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret Mallard, her brother John Wynn Mallard, and her sister Shan Marie Mallard.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Jerry, their children, Jennifer and Michelle, her sisters, Joan Serafin (Bob Serafin), Barbara Stanziano (Lenny Stanziano), Mary Anne Mallard, brother Brian Mallard (Marcia Mallard) and sister-in law Debbie Mallard. She is also remembered by her nieces, nephews and grandnephews.
The family greatly appreciated the support of Valley Hospital Hospice and multiple health aides who ensured Peggy’s comfort during her last week. Collectively they provided the care and support that provided for the family to focus on spending quality time together.
Peggy recently received her ten-year sobriety coin, with special thanks to Alina Lodge, a residential rehabilitation and treatment facility in NJ. Should friends desire, contributions are appreciated in Peggy’s memory via www.alinalodge.org or mail to Alina Lodge, 61 Ward Road, Blairstown, NJ 07825.
