Margaret O'Sullivan

Margaret O’Sullivan (nee: Dempsey), 91, of Bergenfield NJ, passed away on January 27, 2021. Predeceased by her husband Michael and survived by her three children, daughter Kathleen Conlon and her husband John of Chapel Hill, NC, daughter Mary Conlon and her husband Jim of Waldwick NJ, and son Sean O’Sullivan and his wife Christine of Wilton CT, as well as eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Robert, Timothy, Donna, Michael, Christopher, Ryan, and Liam, and three great-grandchildren. Alexis, Matthew, and Michael. Affectionately known to friends and family alike as Peg, she was born in Enniscorthy, County Wexford, Ireland where she met her future husband Michael, also a native of this historical town. After marrying in 1951 and starting a family, Peg was active in her church and community. Ten years later the family immigrated to the United States and eventually settled in Manhattan near Columbia University where Peg worked for over 40 years.


Margaret is also survived by her sister Ann Murphy of Brooklyn and her brother Dennis Dempsey of San Antonio, Texas as well as nephews and nieces both here and abroad. She is predeceased by her sisters Kathleen O’Driscoll of Brooklyn, Mary Ellen “Sandy” Mitchell of Enniscorthy, Patrick “Pat” Dempsey of North Platte, Nebraska and Bernard “Benny” Dempsey of Enniscorthy.


Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Luke’s Church in Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetary, Hawthorne, NY.
