Margaret Tilbian DeDominicis, wife of Frank A. DeDominicis, M.D., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 12, at her home, with her daughters by her side.
Margaret was born to Mary and Aram Tilbian in Paterson, New Jersey in 1927. She attended school there and formed lifelong friendships with her classmates, who held annual reunions for over 50 years after their high school graduation in 1944. She was an active member of St. Leon’s Armenian church.
Margaret attended the Englewood Hospital School of Nursing in New Jersey, and became a registered nurse. She and her classmates were preparing for participation in the Army Nurse Corps, however World War II ended before their service was needed.
Margaret worked as a nurse at the Paterson General Hospital, where she met her husband Frank. They lived in Paterson, New Jersey and soon built a house in Hawthorne, where they raised their family and lived for 48 years.
Margaret was active in the hospital auxiliary and her bridge club, and she was also an accomplished pianist, a gifted painter, and a talented cook. In her forties, she successfully returned to school to complete her Bachelor of Science degree.
Margaret was the beloved mother to Lisa and Gina, devoted mother-in-law to Chris and Mike, wonderful grandma to grandchildren Dana and Scott, and special aunt to Andrea, Barry, Alexis, Eric and Sarah. She will be remembered for her charming sense of humor, vivacious stories, glamorous jewelry collection, and great affection for everyone in her life.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, mother and father, brother Andrew, and niece Andrea. Survivors include her daughters, their husbands, and her two grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements will be private. A memorial gathering will be planned at a future time. Donations in Margaret’s memory may be made to St. Leon Armenian Church in Fair Lawn, NJ, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
