Luanne Ramsay

Luanne M. Ramsay (Duffy) passed away with her loving family by her side on July 10, 2022. She was 91. Luanne was born in 1930 in Paterson, New Jersey and lived in Glen Rock for more than 85 years. She attended Mt. Carmel Grammar School, St Luke’s High School, and Sherwood Secretarial School. Luanne married John (Bing) Ramsay, her beloved husband of nearly 70 years, in 1951. She graduated from Montclair State University with a paralegal studies degree at the age of 62, fulfilling her lifelong dream of attending college. Luanne worked at several law firms in Bergen County during her career, finally retiring at the age of 88.

Luanne was a Eucharistic Minister and was involved with Homebound and Family Promise at St. Catharine’s Church in Glen Rock. She loved the outdoors and was an avid camper, tennis and golf player, runner, hiker, and cross country skier. Luanne was one of those rare people who listened deeply and knew how to bring out the best in people. She was curious, caring, could be very silly, and loved to laugh. Bing long admired her eternal optimism.

Luanne was predeceased by her husband, Bing, who passed away in December 2020 and by her son William, who passed away soon after his birth. She is survived by her brother Richard Duffy and his wife Sheila and by her five children and their spouses: Mary Ramsay and Christopher Griffin, Jack and Patricia Ramsay, Michael and Marla Ramsay, Judy and Roy Nygren, and Jill and Mi- chael Navey. Luanne has 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

A memorial mass celebrating Luanne’s life will be held at St. Catharine’s Church in Glen Rock at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 14 followed by a private burial of both Luanne and Bing. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Valley Hospice, 15 Essex Rd, Paramus, NJ 07652.
