Ken Halko passed from this world to Eternal Life on Christmas Eve 2020.
Born on May 20th 1962, Ken grew up in Waldwick, N.J. He was very active in his youth and had a great love for good food, sports and Rock and Roll music which continued throughout his life.
After some good times but many difficult years of searching, Ken began a new chapter of his life on October 13th 1995, when he said goodbye to drugs and alcohol; this was a memorial that he never took for granted and celebrated every year! Soon afterwards, remembering his grandmother always praying the rosary with him, he started to look for answers to the deepest questions of his existence in the Catholic Church; he found those answers at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Ridgewood, NJ. It was there, in 1997, that Ken truly met the love of God through a catechesis of the neocatechumeal way that started him on a journey towards an adult Christian faith. He remained an active member of his neocatechumenal community until the day he died, going on pilgrimages, scrutinizing the scripture and participating in weekly liturgies. Ken also faithfully attended AA since 1995 and always looked forward to his yearly cornerstone and Ignatian retreats which he attended with his best friend, Jim Kort and many others.
Ken was a brother and friend to many and will be missed.
Ken is survived by his mother, Rita Demeritt, and his sisters, Diane and Linda. His father Walter Halko has also passed from this world.
Rest in peace, Ken!
