Kaliroi Vizoukis

June 28, 1927 ~ May 20, 2017 (age 89) 89 Years Old
Kaliroi Vizoukis was born in June 1927 in the village of Sopiki in the northwestern part of Greece that is now Albania. Her parents were Vasilios (Bill) and Hariklia (Harriet) Karakiros and her brother was Menas (Mike). As was common in those years her father came to America to work and send money to his family in his homeland. He made several trips back and forth, but when World War II broke out, her father was in America and Kaliroi, her mother, and brother were in Albania.

Shortly after World War II, in 1946, her brother Menas came to America, and Kaliroi and her mother arrived in 1947. With her father, the family all lived in Manhattan on 48th street.

Soon after, she met her beloved husband, Paul Vizoukis and they were married in June 1948. They lived in Washington Heights in New York and were married almost 58 years. Kaliroi was a wonderful cook and always prepared a home cooked meal. A family favorite dish was her delicious ‘spanakopita’ made from scratch with homemade phyllo dough. She was a hard working, devoted and loving person who always put her husband and children first and modeled for them the true meaning of “unconditional love.” She was a kind, caring and selfless person who was loved by all who knew her. She passed down to her children and grandchildren the Greek traditions and culture. Kaliroi, a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church in New York, participated in the Philoptochos Society of St. Spyridon, a philanthropic society.

Kaliroi is the cherished mother of Alexandra Tsacalis and Steve Vizoukis; her spouse Norman Tsacalis and his spouse Maria.
She is the beloved Grandmother to Karen and her husband Mike Dow; Anastasia and her husband Chris Tobias; Paul Vizoukis and Nicholas Vizoukis.
Kaliroi is the loving Great Grandmother to Ryan and Colin Dow, and Sophia and Nicholas Tobias.

Kaliroi is a Beloved Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her husband Paul Vizoukis and her brother Menas Karakiros.
