Welcome to the memorial page for

Joseph P. McNulty

April 23, 1928 ~ January 2, 2018 (age 89) 89 Years Old
McNulty, Joseph Patrick, 89, passed away on January 2, 2018 at Villa Marie Claire in Saddle River, NJ. Born April 23, 1928 to John and Isabel (Cain) McNulty in Jersey City, Joe was the second of five children, raised in Teaneck and West Englewood. Joe graduated from Xavier High School and Fordham University before marrying Virginia Wark in 1952, and settling in Ridgewood where they raised their six children. Joe worked for Prudential Insurance Company for over 50 years and was the founder of Physicians Management, Inc. He was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Ridgewood, and later St. Elizabeth’s in Wyckoff. Predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Jack and Bill, and his two wives, Virginia (1980) and Margaret (2017), Joe is survived by his six devoted children: Deirdre (Peter) McGregor, Julie (Timothy) Donohue, Lisa Roeder (William, deceased 2015), Joseph (Despina), John (Cara) and Erin (Robert) Mannion as well as his two sisters, Mary Maher and Isabel Connelly, along with 17 wonderful grandchildren and one great grandson. Above all, Joe valued family and was happiest when surrounded by his adoring children and their spouses, and grandchildren. At family gatherings, he could often be found looking upon the sometimes boisterous scene with a beaming and contented smile, as if there was no place else he’d rather be. He did not take this for granted, constantly reminding those around him of the importance of family and ensuring that this appreciation trickled down through the generations. From his early days as a lifeguard in Spring Lake and quarterback for Fordham University, Joe was an avid athlete and someone who valued staying active. Later, this translated to spending time with friends and family on the golf course, in the ocean, at Army football games or at the New York Athletic Club where he was a lifelong member. Any decline in physical fitness over the years was more than compensated by a strengthened wit and gift of banter that was second to none. Taken together, his unique wit embodied the ideals that guided his life: Faith, Family, and Friendship. He openly shared his love, wisdom, humor, and good company with family, friends, and anyone else who he came across. Joe always said he’d had a good life and he did. The luck he felt is matched only by those who were able to know and love him. Joe will be dearly missed but forever remembered and celebrated. In celebration of a life well lived, the Funeral Mass will be Saturday 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Ridgewood NJ, with interment to follow in Christ the King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes. Visiting hours Friday 3:00 – 7:00 PM at Feeney Funeral Home, Ridgewood. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you share an act of kindness with someone in need.
