Joseph Patrick Kelly Jr.

Our dear husband, father and friend to many, Joseph Patrick Kelly Jr., 68, of Ridgewood, New Jersey died on August 21, 2022, after a short but courageous battle against brain cancer. Joseph Kelly was born on November 9, 1953, in New York City, NY to Joseph Sr. and Dorothy (Born) Kelly. He is survived by his siblings Ellen Kelly (formerly Gillon) and Maureen Mepham, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Joe Kelly was a proud Ridgewood High School graduate of ‘71, returning to his Ridgewood roots in 2001 to raise his family. Joe was a graduate of Merrimack College class of ‘75, where he was known to many as “the Mayor”, due to his friendly spirit and welcoming attitude that was felt by everyone who crossed his path. Joe had great enthusiasm for fun and adventure. Upon graduation, he backpacked through Europe and continued his travels by moving to Pomfret, Vermont, where he spent a decade skiing and exploring the mountains with his lifelong friends.

Joe carried his “Mayor” mentality into his forty-year career in the wine business as a successful salesman, effortlessly making close connections with his customers. Joe is survived by his loving wife Suzanne of 28 years and adoring children Morgan and JP Kelly. Joe was a dedicated husband and father, providing wisdom, strength, and of course a good joke, even during the most difficult chapter of his life. Joe believed that life’s joy is experienced through the people you surround yourself with. He showed this through the numerous meaningful friendships he made throughout the years. His zest for life will live on through the powerful love he created around him.
