The Honorable James J. McGovern

Tribute

The Honorable James McGovern, 84, of Saddle River, NJ, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2020 in Ridgewood, NJ.

James was born at Good Samaritan Hospital to James Joseph McGovern and Frances Lecowitch on September 4th, 1936. He went to high school at St Luke's in HoHoKus. He graduated from Marquette University and then Fordham Law School. He served in the US Marines as a 1st Lieutenant. He worked as a Judge for the state of NJ for over 30 years.

James is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two sisters Marianne and Genevive.

James is survived by his children Kathleen Little, Terrence McGovern, Tricia McGovern, Marianne McGovern, Eileen Cedrone, 8 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the physicians and staff at Valley Hospital and Sunrise at Brighton Garden.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 AM at St. Luke's RC Church, Ho-Ho-Kus . Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
