Tribute

James K. Griffith, age 87, died peacefully after a long illness on April 9, 2022, at The Valley Hospital, in Ridgewood, New Jersey. He was surrounded by his family as he passed from this life. Long a pillar of his community, he will be remembered for his involvement with The Ridgewood Baseball Association, Friends of the Library, The Hobbyist, Park and Recreation Open Space committee, The Valley Hospital, Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of Mount Carmel and most notably Habitat for Humanity. A graduate of Rutgers University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business and of Fairleigh Dickenson, where he earned his Master of Business Administration. A distinguished 34-year career in the aerospace engineering division at Bendix (Allied Signal Corporation) in Teterboro, New Jersey, where he worked in contract management for the cockpit display design team.
He was born in Queens Village N.Y. in 1934—a diehard Yankee fan. After serving in the US Army in Germany, he returned to New York to marry Margaret Grealish in 1957 and join the great migration to the suburbs. A journey which took him ultimately to Ridgewood, which he called home ever since.
Preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Grealish, who tragically passed from this life in 1998 after a long illness.
Jim is survived by his second wife, Kay Poggioli, Jim’s three children and their families: Patricia A. Barron and husband Jim, Margaret M. (Peggy) Becher, and Husband Bob, James M. Griffith, and Wife Marianne, and eleven grandchildren: Jacalyn, Travis, Cara, Natalie, Katie, Megan, Emily, Connor, Cooper, Hannah, Grace.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday April 19th at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Ridgewood. Visiting will be held Monday from 4:00 to 9:00 at Feeney Funeral Home in Ridgewood. Burial will follow at Christ the King Cemetery in Franklin Lakes New Jersey.
