James W. Feeney

On Sunday, December 9, 2018, James W. Feeney, of Glen Rock, loving husband and father of three, passed away at age 87, surrounded by his family.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend the wake on Thursday, December 13, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at the Feeney Funeral Home in Ridgewood, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on December 14 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel RC Church in Ridgewood.
 
 
 
Born on May 12, 1931 in the Bronx, Jim grew up in Brooklyn and graduated from St. Augustine High School.  After two years in the Jesuit Novitiate, he enlisted in the US Army and was a proud veteran of the Korean War.  He earned a degree in English Literature from Fordham University in 1958.  In 1996, after 35 years of service, he retired from the New York State Court System, as a Senior Court Clerk in the Malpractice Mediation Panel of the Supreme Court of New York.
 
 
 
Committed to pro-life causes since 1970, he served on the board of National Right to Life.  He was a Eucharistic minister and lector at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, and was active in the American Legion and in Hobbyists Unlimited, where he enjoyed golf, bowling, and hiking.  His retirement years were spent traveling with his beloved wife of 53 years, the former Kathryn Parmelli.  Jim was known for his quick wit, his ability to make friends, and his kind and compassionate spirit.
  
Jim is survived by his wife Kathryn, and three children, MK of Philadelphia, James (Seton) of Verona, and Thomas of Hoboken.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Hope Pregnancy Resource Center, 149 Third Avenue, Westwood, NJ 07675, or the Salvation Army.
