After bravely and stoically battling through excruciating pain for 8 months from stage-4 pancreatic cancer, Gary Raymond (age 58) slipped away quietly from us on December 5, 2018 at home in Dallas, Texas.
Though not a native Texan, he shows his Texas pride and ever-dry sense of humor by making his exit right after President George H.W. Bush’s final curtain call. Gary would probably say he “was in good company.”
Gary was born in Teaneck, New Jersey to loving parents and two older brothers on August 18th, 1960 (a date he kept secret since he hated surprises and the concept of aging). He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic church as a child. He graduated from Paramus High School class of ’78. It was during those formative years that Gary cultivated a lifelong love affair with fast sports cars, gangster movies, lemon-drop martinis, and trips to Atlantic City and Las Vegas.
As a young man, Gary wisely decided NOT to pursue a career in drag racing or organized crime. Instead he went into the field of IT recruiting, staffing, and technology solutions. In 1993 he began his 24-year journey with Starpoint Solutions and worked in Boston, New Jersey and New York. He moved to Dallas 19 years ago to open and manage a Starpoint office. Gary retired in 2017. He absolutely loved his job, his company, his co-workers (many of whom were family to him), and his friends.
Gary believed people deserved second and third chances. If Jesus could give Gary a big second chance, how could Gary not give second chances to others? He was unexpectedly forgiving and secretly generous. His sometimes-tempestuous personality made him difficult to read. But he was witty, sarcastic, and hilariously subtle. Gary was a loyal friend, conscientious boss, and father figure to many. He will be laid to rest in his beloved home state, New Jersey.
Gary will be desperately missed by his loving wife Melissa and three step-daughters, Brittany, Savannah, and Cheyenne. Gary is preceded in death by his parents John and Joan Raymond. He is survived by his brothers John and Brian and by one dear daughter Bryanna.
