Frances J. Murphy Beloved Aunt, Sister, Friend.
Francis J. Murphy 100, of Glen Rock, passed away peacefully at her home on October 1, 2018.
Fran was born on July 17th, 1918, in Scranton, PA, the 3rd of 7 daughters and 1 son, to the late James and Stella (Mc Andrew) Murphy.
A graduate of Butler High School, Fran was among one of the first graduating classes of Ladycliff College and has remained active in their alumni association. After graduation, Fran began her career as a phlebotomist at the Paterson Health Department and ultimately ran the City of East Orange Health Department’s Lab until her retirement in 1985.
Aunt Fran, was lovingly known as “the fun aunt” by her many nieces and nephews. She regaled them with tales of visitors in the “attic” and insisted they all go up for a peek. There was not really anything too frightening to see, but it was sure to give one goose bumps.
When it came to caring for her parents, siblings, and friends, Fran did so cheerfully. When faced with her own illnesses, she was resilient. Her strong faith saw her through.
Fran is survived by 22 loving nieces and nephews, their spouses, and their children, plus countless others whose lives she touched.
She was predeceased by her parents, and siblings, James Murphy, Mary Murphy, Jane Murphy, Melissa Faitoute, Dorothy Bryan, Estelle Buck, Myra Lorenz, and nephews Jef Faitoute, Tom Faitoute, Keith Murphy.
Visiting today 2-4 & 7-9 PM Feeney Funeral Home, Ridgewood.
