Eileen T. McAnanly, 92, of Millington, NJ passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her four children on September 13, 2021. Eileen was born in Englewood, NJ on November 6, 1928 to Frank and Margaret McLarnon and was the third of six sisters.

Eileen was pre-deceased by her loving husband Robert and was a devoted mother to sons Bob McAnanly of Spring Lake, NJ and Jim McAnanly of Millington and daughters Patty McAnanly Borzner (Scott) of Summit, NJ and Sheila McAnanly (John Rake) of Chicago, IL. Loving grandmother of Claire, Emily, and Anne Borzner. Cherished sister of Rose Byrne and Doreen Hawthorne and pre-deceased by her sisters Cynthia Gauff, Mary Wolfe, and Patricia Beers. She will also be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews.

Eileen graduated from St. Cecilia’s High School in Englewood, NJ and Holy Name School of Nursing in Teaneck, NJ. Her career in nursing began at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. She stayed home with her four children for several years before returning to work as a school nurse and health educator at Northern Highlands Regional High School and then Ho-Ho-Kus Public School. While working full time as a school nurse, Eileen obtained a bachelors degree from Jersey City State University and a masters degree in education from Montclair State University. In December 1986, Eileen authored a paper entitled “School Phobia: The Importance of Prompt Intervention” that was published in the Journal of School Health and has been cited in numerous other scholarly papers. She deeply enjoyed nursing and caring for those around her.

Eileen raised her family in Ho-Ho-Kus and, upon retirement, moved to Millington, to be closer to her daughter and granddaughters. She also had a home in Spring Lake, NJ where she spent time at the ocean with those she loved. Eileen’s loving care, sharp wit, and devotion to a lifetime of learning will be missed.
