Tribute

Dennis Michael Tomala, beloved husband, father, grandfather, passed away on April 11, 2024 from complications of diabetes. Born on August 30, 1946, in Passaic, NJ, Dennis was the son of Joseph and Cecilia (Wojtach) Tomala. He grew up in Wallington, NJ, went to high school there and made many enduring friendships. Dennis graduated from Rutgers University with dual degrees—a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Pharmacy. His professional life as a Registered Pharmacist began at BJ Drugs in Hasbrouck Heights, followed by Colonial Pharmacy in Clifton. Over the years, he changed focus from community to hospital pharmacy, working at Saddle Brook Hospital, Kessler Institute of Rehabilitation in Saddle Brook, and Neighbor Care Pharmacy in Whippany, NJ. Beyond his professional pursuits, Dennis was a devoted family man. He cherished his wife of 51 years, Nancy Tomala, and their children, Matthew Tomala (Andrea) and the late Bethany Tomala (Kevin Harrigan). He found immense joy in the presence of his grandsons, Chase and Ben Tomala. Dennis's passion for sports, particularly the Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia Eagles, was unwavering. He loved collecting cards and memorabilia and found camaraderie among fellow enthusiasts at card shows and local shops like Dollars and Cents in Ridgewood and The Baseball Card Shop in Midland Park. A regular attendee at the Garfield Card Show, Dennis enjoyed the company of his coffee clutch there. He also loved attending the Talking Baseball Montvale meetings promoting many friendships over their shared interest. As a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Ridgewood for 45 years, Dennis found solace and community through his involvement with the Knights of Columbus. His dedication to his faith and service to others left an indelible mark on all who knew him. In remembrance of Dennis's life, his family invites friends and loved ones to join in celebrating his legacy. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit will be deeply missed, but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, forever cherished in our hearts.  His wake will be Tuesday April 16 at Feeney Funeral Home, Ridgewood from 4-8. His funeral Mass will be at Our Lady of Mt Carmel RC Church, Ridgewood on Wednesday April 17 at 10. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Knights of Columbus Charities.
