Arline McGovern (nee Morrell) age 94, of Waldwick, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2021. She was born on November 14, 1926 in Port Monmouth, New Jersey. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jim in 1999.

Arline is survived by her son James McGovern and his wife Maureen, of Warrington, PA and her daughter Arline Dench and her husband Thomas of Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ. Beloved Grandmother to Timothy and his wife Teresa, Brian and his wife Alena, Kate, Shannon, and Brynn. She was also blessed with two greatgranchildren, James and Branson who were the light of her life.

After graduation, she worked for Prudential in Newark, NJ as a secretary. She then went to work in New York City for William Russell as a legal secretary. She met Jim at a wedding of mutual friends and when Jim came back from Korea they married in 1952 and moved to Waldwick in 1954. She worked as Deputy Court Clerk in Waldwick and then worked for the Northwest Bergen Regional Health Commission until her retirement in 1984. She and Jim loved to get in the car and travel all over the United States.

Arline formally attended The Waldwick United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School, and for the last 25 years was a parishioner of The Community Church of Ho-Ho-Kus. She worked in the Church office, was in the church Guild and also enjoyed volunteering at the Thrift Shop. When her children were in High School sports, she and Jim never missed a game. She continued this tradition with her grandsons during all of their sporting events. Arline was also an avid Mets fan and a ravenous reader. She had many talents including knitting, cake decorating, and sewing.

There will be a gravesite service at Shoreland Memorial Cemetery, State Route 35 North, Hazlet, NJ on March 8, 2021 at 12 noon. There will be a Memorial Service at The Community Church in the coming months.
