Annie T. Ivers

Annie T. Ivers, 87, of Pearl River, New York and Belmullet, Co. Mayo peacefully passed from this life on November 9, 2022.

Devoted mother to Maureen Ivers Bolduc (Bruce) of Ridgewood, New Jersey and Eileen Ivers Mulligan (Brian) of West Nyack, New York.
Loving grandmother to Kia Bolduc (Brian Bishop), Brendan Bolduc, Joseph Ivers Bolduc and Aidan Mulligan.

Cherished sister of Kathleen Carolan, of Bronx, New York, Christopher (Gus) Ruddy (Rita) of Belmullet, Co. Mayo, James Ruddy (Kathleen) of Alt, Glencastle and dear sister-in-law of Janet Ruddy of Hampton, Va and Mary Ivers Doyle of Birmingham, U.K.  Annie will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
 
Annie was born in the village of Alt, Glencastle, Co. Mayo, the third of eleven children of Martin and Bridget Agnes Ruddy.

She left home at an early age, with her father and siblings, Mary and John. They traveled to Scotland and England for work, to support the growing family at home in Ireland.

At 17, Annie emigrated to New York and was met at the ship by her aunt, Katherine Larsen. Katherine recognized Annie by the pink polka dot dress that she was wearing upon her arrival. This method of identification predates TSA guidelines, and was acknowledged by letter writing communication between the families.

Shortly after, Annie met the love of her life, John Ivers, of Kiltimagh, Co. Mayo. They were married on December 7, 1957 in New York City and raised their daughters in Woodlawn, Bronx, New York. 

Annie and John enjoyed their retirement in Pearl River, New York and were long-time parishioners of St. Aedan’s Parish.  John’s funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Aedan’s Church in August, 2012.

The importance of maintaining close, strong transatlantic family bonds is a value that is cherished by the Ivers family.

Annie and John instilled in their daughters a love of two nations, Ireland and the United States.  Annual summer trips to Ireland enabled the family to cherish , love and respect both nations, and to solidify an enduring connection to family, on both sides of the pond.

Whether known by: Annie, Nancy, Aine, Bana, or, simply, “Mom”, Annie was beloved by all who knew her in these roles. Annie touched so many lives through her witness to generous love, devotion to faith, sense of humor and abundant sense of gratitude.

Annie’s journey will come full circle on Monday, November 14, 2022 at 10:45 AM when her funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Barnabas Church, in Woodlawn, Bronx, New York. Internment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
