Alex Antonio Diaz

August 31, 1973 ~ March 5, 2022 (age 48)

Alex Diaz, 48, a long-time Ridgewood resident passed away at home on March 5, 2022. He was born in Jacksonville, Fl, the beloved youngest son of Armando and Lydia Diaz. He is survived by his two brothers, sister in laws, and four nephews and niece.

From a very early age Alex displayed a ready smile, an insatiable curiosity, and potential. He was well liked by his classmates throughout his Ridgewood grade and high school education. He attended Hartwick College for two years.

After college he eagerly entered the work force where alcoholism’s early impact was first felt. Despite these early career challenges, he was the consummate “cool uncle” and enjoyed life with his extended family and friends.

Throughout his life, regardless of the circumstances he was a loving, kind, and friendly person to both family, and strangers. He was always ready for a conversation or discussion across a wide range of topics. His passion was for interacting and enjoying people; his charisma exuded this passion.

Alex’s premature death was precipitated by his addiction and a pre-pandemic flu that had him on life support, and in the ICU of Valley Hospital for several months.

The family is having a private ceremony and requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to The Valley Hospital Foundation ( in Alex’s name.
