Dr. Joseph J. Scancarello, 80 of Glen Rock, NJ passed away on November 19, 2017 in his home. Dr. Joe was born and raised by his two loving parents Joseph and Jackie Scancarello in Flushing, NY. He married Margaret Sullivan on May 5, 1989 and they proceeded to have a wonderful and fulfilling life of adventure together.
Dr. Joe was a retired maxofacial prosthodontist and once served as the New York Mets team dentist. He mentored young, aspiring dentists as the Chair of the Prosthodontic Department at Farleigh Dickinson University in Hackensack. He also served as the Director of Dentistry at Overlook Hospital in Summit and as a Professor at Columbia’s College of Dental Medicine.
He was a true sportsman and his hunting and fishing exploits took him all over the world. However, he perhaps found most satisfaction mentoring and teaching young men and women on the United States Military Academy’s Skeet and Trap Team. To his closest friends and family, he is an irreplaceable soul and source of wisdom. Dr. Joe is survived by his devoted wife Margaret and his two daughters Lois and Jackie.
Margaret will receive friends from 3-7 PM on Sunday 26 November 2017, at the Feeney Funeral Home, 232 Franklin Ave, Ridgewood, NJ. Mass held 10:30 AM on Monday 27 November, 2017 at Mount Carmel, One Passaic St, Ridgewood, NJ with graveside services immediately following at Flushing Cemetery.
