Szulis, Edward, 91, of Glen Rock, passed away May 17, 2017. Beloved husband of Evelyn (NEE: Buser). Loving father of Laurey and husband Peter Straub of Fair Lawn, and Ronald Szulis of Meriden, CT. Devoted brother of Richard Lawida, and the late Ronald Lawida, and Chester Szulis. A parishioner of St. Catharine RC Church, Glen Rock, he was a US Navy Veteran of WWII. A graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University, Edward was an accountant at Olin Hunt in Palisades Park for many years. He was Past Commander of Glen Rock American Legion Post 145, and a member of both the Glen Rock Seniors and Activities Clubs, along with being Treasurer of the Glen Rock IDA for many years. Edward also was Past Scoutmaster of the Union City Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. He also volunteered at the Hudson County Red Cross. Funeral Mass will be Saturday 10:00 AM at St. Catharine RC Church, Glen Rock, with interment to follow in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. Visiting Friday 2-4 and 7-9 at the Feeney Funeral Home, 232 Franklin Ave, Ridgewood. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital (www.st.jude.org) would be appreciated.
