Out of the approximately 18,500 funeral homes

in the USA, we are proud to be one of the 109 to receive the

2021 Pursuit of Excellence Award

from the National Funeral Directors Association!

We are especially proud this year as we were one of ONLY 12 funeral homes in the NATION to receive the Certificate of Honorable Mention for our innovative program, “Joie de Vie”. The Certificate of Honorable Mention is awarded for “an essay describing the development and execution of a program or service that had a positive impact on those served.” (nfda.org

Funeral home opening, January 1956

Feeney Funeral Home was founded in Paterson, NJ in 1921 by John J. Feeney, shortly after he directed the funeral of F.W. Woolworth in New York City. His sons, Robert and Jack, continued the family business by opening the Ridgewood location in 1956, and his grandson, David B. Feeney, continues the tradition today as Senior Funeral Director at Feeney Funeral Home. Since its inception, the funeral home has earned more NFDA Pursuit of Excellence Awards than any other funeral home in New Jersey. We also hold the distinction of being the only funeral home in North Jersey to be inducted into the NFDA Hall of Excellence. We have been a leader in the modernization of funeral service including being the first funeral home in North Jersey to have a dedicated website, as well as being among the first funeral homes in the United States to operate a “Funeral Notification by Email” system for the public.

Among the proudest achievements of Feeney Funeral Home, however, is that of being a leader in Community Service. Hosting annual community events is of great importance to us because they help the families we serve work through their grief after losing a loved one.

Choosing a funeral home is often a daunting task for families, and at Feeney Funeral Home we understand that process. With 100 years of experience in caring for families in their time of need, we are well prepared to help you through difficult times with respect and compassion.

On March 17, 1947, one of the most influential Bishops in the United States, Bishop Thomas McLaughlin, of the Diocese of Paterson, passed away. Feeney’s was the funeral home which conducted on of the largest funerals in the history of Paterson. Here are some photos from that day.
